Why Should You Use a Pinterest Scheduler?
If you’re just starting Pinterest marketing, you may ask yourself whether or not you should use the native Pinterest scheduler or choose another scheduler.
Pinterest’s native scheduler is a good scheduling option, but one of its biggest faults is that it will only let you schedule 30 days in advance. This can be particularly limiting if you like to post in advance. In addition, Pinterest does not offer interval scheduling or have a calendar view.
If you’re looking to upgrade your Pinterest scheduling, you’re going to need a scheduler.

Planoly vs Later: Scheduling
Planoly and Later are one of the most popular scheduling options. Let’s dive into the differences between these two scheduling choses.
Planoly
Scheduling in Planoly is very easy. The platform is very intuitive, allowing you to upload content from your computer, Dropbox, Google Drive, and even Canva. Once the image has been downloaded to your library, it can be scheduled by either clicking the image or dragging and dropping the image to the calendar.
Then you simply have to input your pin title, pin description, URL and choose your boards and dates. Then click the “Save” button. That’s it your pin is now scheduled
Scheduling for Pinterest on Planoly is so easy. It also gives the option to see all the images in your library, all the scheduled images and all the published images, with just the click of a button. Planoly also provides a calendar that can be viewed by month or by week.

Later
Scheduling a pin with Later is very similar to scheduling a pin in with Plaonly. You schedule a pin by dragging the image into the calendar or clicking the image and then clicking the blue button that says, “Create Pin”
Then you choose the date it will be published and input the pin title, pin description, and URL.
Later also give the option of inputting an Alt Text. Lastly, click the blue button that says, “Schedule Post”.
Unfortunately, you can’t choose more than one date and board when scheduling with Later. However, after the pin is created, you can Copy a Post and then change the date and Pinterest board.
Later is a great scheduler and is a popular choice . The Later library also gives you the choice of using filters to show the used media vs the unused media. However, it’s not as simple to use as Plaonly. Later also gives the option of a calendar with a month view or week view.

Planoly vs Later: Chrome Extension
While a chrome extension isn’t necessary for Pinterest scheduling, it can make it so much easier. Not all schedulers have chrome extensions, but both Planoly and Later have them. Let’s discuss the differences between their chrome extensions.
Planoly
The Planoly extension is called the PLANOLY Uploader. This extension will not only pull the image from your website, but the pin title and description as well. You simply hover over the image on your website click the “Plan It” button and you can schedule your pin from there
This means that if you have the Pinterest meta data in the image on your website, you don’t have to write it again to schedule it.

Later
The Later chrome extension pulls the image from your website into the Later library. It doesn’t allow you to schedule or pull the data. It only sends the image to the Later library. I also find it inconvenient that there is no hover button. You have to right click and then search for “Add to Media library”.

Planoly vs Later: Integrations
I love when the tools I already use can integrate with my new tools. This is the same with a Pinterest scheduler. We’re going to compare Planoly vs. Later and determine which platform integrates with other platforms the best.
Planoly
It can be frustrating storing all of your images in Dropbox or Google Drive and then having to save them to your computer, just so that you can upload them to your Pinterest scheduler. Planoly integrates with both these platforms, so you don’t have to.
Planoly also integrates with Canva with plaid plans. You can upload your designs directly from Canva and even create or edit your designs.

Later
This Pinterest scheduler only integrates with one other platform, Dropbox. Unfortunately, if you use Google Drive, you cannot upload your images directly. Later is really lacking in the integration area.

Planoly vs Later: AI Writing
AI has become a great tool for so many marketing strategies. Pinterest is no exception. You can use AI tools to write your Pinterest descriptions.
Before we compare Planoly and Later, remember that whenever you use an AI tool to write a Pinterest description, make sure that you edit it to your voice and change it to make your brand. You should never post AI content without editing it.
Planoly
Planoly recently launched beta AI capabilities to help write captions. It’s available in all plans and is called AI Caption Writer. The Planoly AI Caption writer allows you to choose your tone., ex. artistic voice, luxury or a custom tone. It will generate several captions to choose from and edit.

This Pinterest scheduler does have an AI writing feature for all of their paid plans called AI Caption Writer. Their Growth plan offers 30 credits for their AI features. This essentially means that for every Pinterest description, it will cost you 1 credit.
Later has integrated their AI feature directly into the scheduling process. By clicking the “Need help writing a caption? button. Then Later will take you to AI Caption Writer where it will generate 3 description options. You can then choose a description and edit it for your pin.

One of the most important aspects of choosing a schedule is the cost for value. Both Later and Planoly have several plan options that may be the right choice for your Pinterest marketing strategy.
Planoly Pricing
Currently, Planoly’s starter plan is $14 per month (when billed annually) and includes 1 social set. Which means that you can have one account on Pinterest, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, X, and YouTube.
This plan includes 1 user and 60 image uploads per month with as many schedules as needed. If you have a team or a Pinterest Manager, you can update to the Growth or Professional Plan for more members and unlimited uploads.
Planoly pricing is reasonable and a great value for what you receive with your plan.

Later’s Starter plan currently starts at $16.37 per month (when billed annually. This plan includes 1 user and 1 social set of Pinterest, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, X, and YouTube.
The Starter plan allows 30 posts per social posts per profile as well as 5 credits for their AI features. You can expand to their Growth or Advanced plan which will give you more users, unlimited posts and more AI credits.
For 1 social sets, the Later price is reasonable. However, Planoly is a better value.

Pinterest Scheduling Alternatives
If the Canva scheduler isn’t the right Pinterest scheduler choice for you, there are other schedulers to choose from. Three of the top alternatives to Canva Pro are:

- Canva Pro
- Tailwind
Buffer
Buffer is a great budget option scheduler. Their free plan provides up to 3 channels (for Example, 2 facebook pages and 1 Pinterest account) and their paid plans are charged by the channel.
Buffer is very easy to use and has a simplistic design. You can also create a pin directly from the calendar view. Buffer does have a Chrome extension, but it will only pull the image.
If you’re looking for simplicity and value, Buffer may be the right option for you.
Canva Pro
Canva Pro is one of the best places to design your Pinterest pins. But did you know that this design program can also schedule your Pinterest pins?
If you already have Canva Pro for your pin design, their scheduler may be all you need to schedule your pins.

Planoly vs. Later: Which is the Best Pinterest Scheduler?
Both these schedulers are great Pinterest schedulers choices and choosing a scheduler often comes down to personal preference. However, according to our rating system, Planoly received a score of 20 and Later received a score of 14.
Overall Planoly’s features and pricing were better than Later’s. If you’re thinking of choosing between the two, Planoly is the better choice, despite not having AI. The platform not only has a better chrome extension, but it also has integrations that will make scheduling easier.
